The reconciliation letter project

Part of my MFA thesis show asked audience members to write small letters, fold them, and place them in a large handmade paper origami boats

There are instructions written for the audience to write a short letter stating what they wish they could have said to somebody before it was too late or to write to some personification of history. I turned this aspect of my MFA installation into a continuing project. So far I have collected close to fifty letters which are archived and can be viewed below.

My hope for you reading these letters is to feel less alone, that other people are going through or have similar stories to you which I believe can grow empathy.

Letters are organized by the location they were written.

Most names have been edited out.
Some letters mention death, grief, or mentions of self-harm, read with care.
