Jacob Bautista was born in Amarillo, Texas. He received his BFA from West Texas A&M and his MFA from University of Wisconsin Madison both in Printmaking. His current research chronicles his journey working towards creating a more vital understanding of his identity through an exploration of his past and familial history. This work not only symbolizes his experience reconciling with trauma but also embracing the intimate details of his identity made by past decisions and societal and familial history that he cannot change and may not yet understand. Bautista has been included in various exhibitions such as the group exhibition, Magic Wilderness at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend. Bautista works as a lecturer at the University of Wisconsin- Platteville, teaching various art classes, including printmaking. He Currently lives in Madison, WI.
